The final stigma: Mental illness and the workplace

Rio Tinto and WA Police will be leading a panel discussing mental health issues in the workplace at the HR Summit in Perth this May.

While mental health is an issue for all workplaces, employers in Western Australia face a multitude of particular challenges. From managing Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) workforces to dealing with the tyranny of distance and the inherent nature of universally stressful occupations, employers in the west are truly at the coalface of managing mental health in the workplace.
 
Workplace mental health is on the agenda when the HR Summit returns to Perth in May. A panel featuring some of the biggest employers in WA from Rio Tinto to WA Police will come together to share initiatives and ideas to create mentally healthy, resilient and supportive workplaces.
 
Panellists include Kiersten Gregg, General Manager HR, Rio Tinto; Darian Ferguson, Director Human Resources, WA Police; Steven Kempin, National HR Manager at Coogee Chemicals and Joseph Carrello, National HR Consulting and EAP Services Manager at Orsgroup.
