Michelle Banfield’s current focus is Fonterra’s global culture and the experience of its 20,000 employees. She works collaboratively to ensure the co-operative’s culture is aligned to its strategy as a key strategic asset. Banfield has transformed traditional approaches to engagement and employee experience which saw Fonterra’s engagement increase to its highest level at the last all-staff survey. She has a passion for creating a high performance environment for people and teams to succeed, and she cares deeply about the experiences people have at work. Banfield was an employment lawyer in New Zealand and a Magic Circle firm in London for over ten years, and has since worked for Westpac in Australia and more recently at Fonterra in a variety of roles.
