Kathleen Hogan’s mission is to empower Microsoft’s 140,000-strong workforce and provide them with an environment that is conducive to success. As chief people officer, she strives to create a culture that “attracts and inspires the world’s most passionate talent.” Hogan joined Microsoft in 2003 as COO of worldwide sales, was appointed CVP of worldwide services in 2009, and after six years, took up her current role as chief people officer. Prior to joining Microsoft, Hogan was a partner at McKinsey & Company (2009-2013), and a development manager at Oracle (1989-1991). Hogan earned her bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University. She also holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She sits on the board of directors of Alaska Air Group and the National Center for Women & Information Technology.
