Your job isn’t so bad: Five weirdest jobs around

by HCA01 Nov 2013

Some jobs are awful. Some jobs are great; these ones? Well, we’ll let you be the judge.

News Ltd rounded up some of the zaniest jobs they could find. Here are HC’s picks from their list:

  • Face feeler. Shaving brands and other beauty products claim to give people the smoothest skin possible, and employ face feelers to keep them honest. All you’ve got to do is have a rub of people’s faces all day long to see how smooth their skin is. It’s a hard life – but hopefully a smooth one if the promises of these products hold up.
  • Chicken sexer. Farms have to categorise their hens from their roosters for egg/more chicken production. Thing is, baby chicks all look the same. The chicken sexer has the fantastic job of staring at chicken genitalia all day to figure out where the chicks are to go.
  • Pet food tester. Hey, someone has to do it. I mean, do you really want to be feeding your dog something you wouldn’t eat? Well, that is at least how Mark Gooley, owner of pet food company Huds and Toke, feels, personally testing his company’s treats, chew bones and more.
  • IMAX screen cleaner. This one needs no explanation. Those things are huge and someone has to clean off the dust, as well as all the fizzy drinks and lollies people have hurled at the screen.
  • Teddy bear repair technician. This one actually sounds amazing. The teddy bear repair technician is the unsung hero of the modern world, working at plush toy merchants such as Build-A-Bear to stich back on Mr Snuggles’ arm, and give Big Ted new eyes. Where do I sign up?

I'd love to read the job description for the 'Chicken Sexer' role. "Accurately determine sex of chickens and categorise accordingly" :/
