Unpaid overtime lawsuit not so ha-ha for Gaga

by 10 Feb 2012

Pop Queen Lady Gaga is being sued for thousands of hours in unpaid overtime by her former personal assistant.

Perhaps not only a diva on stage but also in her personal life, the 25-year-old singer is being sued by her former assistant Jennifer O’Neill for 7,168 hours of unpaid overtime and damages related to so-called spontaneous and unfair requests. Gaga was accompanied by O’Neill during her ‘Monster Ball’ World tour in 2010, and was employed for 13 months by the singer.

In a lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court, the assistant is suing for $380,000 back pay as well as an undisclosed figure relating to ‘damages’ – it is being claimed that Gaga demanded O’Neill bring her a towel after showers and act as a personal alarm clock to keep her on schedule, and that there were no breaks for meals, “or, at times, even sleep”.

Reps for Gaga did not issue a statement rebuking the claims, but did say the lawsuit is “completely without merit.”
