HR loves a good gossip. Heck, that’s one of the perks of the job – to know what’s going on behind closed doors. But in a warning to us all: save the gossip for the pub.
Stoke Park, a 5-star hotel and wedding reception venue in south-east England, has been left red-faced after the property’s wedding coordinator accidently cc’d a bride-to-be in an email to a co-worker. The coordinator was seeking advice on how to get rid of the couple who she had deemed “not the right type of people” to stay at the luxury venue.
The email read:
I need your advice on this wedding, I know this probably doesn't sound very nice, but I am trying to put this wedding off as I don't think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park.
I spoke to the Bride [sic] yesterday as she was enquiring about availability, and I have put her off for now by telling her the dates that she is looking at are not available, but she has asked me if I can get back to her with avail-able dates around end of June beginning of July 2013.
The story made news all over Britain, and the couple has been vocal in voicing their disgust and hurt at having received the email.
While the hotel apologised to the couple, and said they would be “delighted” to host the reception – not surprisingly, they’ve decided to spend their £10,000 ($15,500) elsewhere.
