HR are the internal workplace regulators. The bread and butter of a HR professionals is to ensure policies are followed and standards of conduct are upheld. In the absence of HR’s voice of reason, chaos can ensue.
Case in point is an Ohio woman, who was arrested this week after her one-man operation and business model came tumbling down. After setting up a business, Sue Warren began breaking into homes throughout her neighbourhood. However, she wasn’t stealing from her neighbours – she was cleaning their homes.
When Sherry Bush returned home from work one evening her house was unusually clean – and then she realised why. On her table she found an “invoice” for $75, payable to Warren. Bush had never heard of Warren, but there had been reports by others in her home town of Westlake, Ohio, of Warren's aggressive acquisition of "clients".
"I do this all the time. I just stop and clean your house," Warren told Bush when she called.
Reports from the community include home owners who have woken up to find her in their homes and the so-called “cleaning fairy” even leaves her name, phone number, and bill for services rendered.
While a family was sleeping, Warren broke in, cleaned coffee cups, vacuumed and took out the garbage, said Captain Guy Turner, of the Westlake Police Department.
One resident reports having to leave repeated notes for the Fairy to stay away. After the Fairy wrote “I left you a note on your counter saying I’ll be back two weeks later”, one resident left the Fairy another note which read “Remember Fairy, I told you we don’t need you anymore, and you still tried to get in the house!”
