CV to be replaced by one click

LinkedIn have today released their new ‘apply with LinkedIn button’ which will be displayed on employer websites.
LinkedIn’s corporate vision is for this ‘one click’ approach to be the replacement for the traditional CV. And that’s no easy task, considering the millions of employers who request them. But world recruitment domination is in sight for LinkedIn with the launch of a new plugin which allows job seekers to apply with nothing more than a mouse click.
Human Capital spoke with Steve Barham, director, Australia and New Zealand, LinkedIn Hiring Solutions, who said this new online tool is their way of connecting passive job seekers with new employment opportunities.
Barham said that the purpose of their new tool is to harness the passive job seekers, who aren’t invested enough in a new job search to write out pages of job applications, but who would apply via a very simple process.
“It’s really the only way to reach out to the 18% of employees worldwide who are looking for a new opportunity. Of that 18%, 60% don’t have a new job search underway, but we help employers reach out to that passive 60%,” Barham said.
Barham said the new plugin will provide a service where talented people can be connected with opportunities on a massive scale. He added that members currently use LinkedIn to connect with their peers and manage their professional identity online, and this new button is an extension of this service.
When job applicants click the ‘apply with LinkedIn button’ they will be prompted to edit their profile before submitting, or they can go directly to the one-click ‘submit application’ button.
Their public profile will then be automatically sent to the employer, or alternatively will ‘pre-populate’ the employer’s online employment pool.
