Recruiters giving back

A record number of Adecco Group workers participated in Run Melbourne on 18 July, clocking valuable kilometres for their Win4Youth initiative and assisting disadvantaged youths integrate into employment.

Almost 100 Adecco employees took part in Melbourne's biggest charity run on Sunday, winning 'Largest Corporate Team'. The prize of $1,000, sponsored by Power Balance: Performance Technology, will be donated to a charity of the Group's choice.

The additional motivator for Adecco participants this year is the company's Win4Youth program. For every five kilometres completed by an Adecco Group employee, the global company will donate $US5 to employment integration projects around the world. From Zurich to New Zealand, Adecco employees are joining local charity runs, clocking a total of 32,320kms since January.

Sixty-five Adecco employees have already been chosen to run in the New York City Marathon on 7 November 2010.

Each and every Adecco employee can contribute to Win4Youth at local level.

Future events include:

  • Sydney - City to Surf Sunday 8 August
  • Perth - City to Surf Sunday 29 August
  • Brisbane - Bridge to Brisbane Sunday 29 August
  • Canberra - Canberra Times Fun Run Sunday 12 September
  • Adelaide - City to Bay Sunday 19 September
  • National Adecco Win4Youth Run Sunday 7 November

Adecco is aiming to get at least 30% of colleagues running 5km or more. All employees are encouraged to participate - whether the 5 km is run, wheel chaired or walked - as long as it is recorded and verified by the project coordinator.

Win4Youth is the first initiative of its kind for Adecco and according to CEO, Jeff Doyle (pictured above far right), it is just one of ways Adecco creates a 'better work, better life'.

"We support both organisations and individuals across the employment lifecycle," Doyle said. "This means whoever you are and whatever stage of your career you are in, we can support your development. Win4Youth enables us to make a difference in the lives of young people from difficult environments, who want to join the workforce and that's important to us."

The launch of Win4Youth at the beginning of 2010 coincided with the global launch of the Adecco Group's Official Values. "One of our shared values is team spirit, and Win4Youth provides the perfect opportunity to exercise this," Doyle said. "Adecco colleagues from around the country and the world are stepping up for our shared cause, as well as supporting local charities, through events such as Run Melbourne."
