NSW Workcover urges young worker focus

by 29 Jan 2010

NSW WorkCover is reminding businesses to keep an eye on young workers who may not be confident enough to speak up about safety concerns.

“Workers aged under 25 may be more vulnerable to workplace safety risks because of their youth and inexperience or reluctance to speak up about safety concerns,” WorkCover NSW chief Lisa Hunt said.

According to WorkCover NSW data, 15 young people are injured on the job every day, with 13 per cent of the state’s 562,000 young workers injured or sufferers of “occupational diseases” each year.
