It’s awards time!
Excitement is bubbling, the nominations are closed, judges have
made their decision and the countdown is on to the national HR
Leadership Awards 2009.
Winning an HR Award this year will have that extra bit of oomph
because it was won against a backdrop of very tough conditions
This year, as we all know, has seen some crazy economic conditions,
from which few companies have been immune. Many HR departments
were pushed to the limit and some really had their backs against the wall.
So, any company or individual who has made it to the finalist list
has put forward a submission for work that not only has helped steer
their company in the right direction, but which the judges’ panel also felt
was worthy of a place on the finalist table.
The awards use a rigorous selection and judging process, which was
developed in conjunction with leading academics and professionals from
the HR industry. Just being a finalist is a great achievement. Some of the
judges’ comments this year demonstrated that.
One judge said it was inspiring to see such a high calibre of entrants
in the Employer of Choice category, while another said that “all finalists
in this award showcased excellent human resource leadership programs
that are making a difference in the respective organisations. Strong evi
dence of the increasing relevance of the HR contribution to business out
comes was provided – this is most encouraging and augurs well for the
future of the competent human resource practitioner”.
