What does it take to be an Australian HR Award winner?

by HCA16 May 2016
Nominations for the 2016 Australian HR Awards close this Friday, with 18 categories recognising leading HR professionals, teams and companies for their achievements over the past 12 months.

Among the most hotly contested each year are the Employer of Choice categories so HC Online spoke to one of last year’s judges Jim Grant to find out what he looks for when determining the winners of these awards.

Quantitative and qualitative evidence to demonstrate the success of HR initiatives is key for teams looking to stand out, according to Grant, who is the founding partner of leadership consultancy Dattner Grant.

“The key thing for me is evidence. It’s easy to have glossy brochures and claims of success, but the entries that appeal to me most have supportive data,” he said.

“There isn’t much point claiming you have highly engaged employees without testing it robustly and regularly to see trends.”
