National HR Summit preview: Is the death of the appraisal inevitable?

Join a line-up of experts to explore how companies can benefit from new approaches to performance appraisals.

The appraisal meeting has traditionally been the cornerstone of best-practice performance management processes. However, many companies are now replacing appraisals with different forms of feedback methods, including coaching, 360-degree reviews and previews – while some organisations have scrapped the whole formalised concept altogether.

Recently, Millward Brown Head of Talent and Strategy, Cindy Grass, spoke to HC about the new approach that many firms are taking to performance management.

“They are replacing year end appraisals and ratings with in-depth conversations, often drawing on the myriad data points now available about employee and company performance, such as sales information, organisational climate survey results, and employee engagement data,” Grass told HC Online.

Where do you stand? Join Accenture Managing Director of HR Siobhan Gallacher, Aecom’s Director of HR for Australia and New Zealand Helen Fraser and Millward Brown Head of Talent & Strategy Cindy Grass as they discuss the pros and cons of different approaches.

The National HR Summit brings together a line-up of HR directors and business leaders to share insight into how leading companies are tackling a range of people management issues.

The event will be held on 6-7 April at Luna Park Sydney.
