Rhonda Brighton-Hall, Luxottica’s Senior Vice President of HR, Asia Pacific and Africa, has been named National winner of the Hudson Corporate and Private Sector Award at the 2009 Telstra Business Women’s Awards gala dinner held in Melbourne on Thursday.

Brighton, who was featured recently in HR Leader magazine for her innovative HR strategies, was described by the judges as incredibly personable, engaging, inspiring and someone who displayed impressive openness and honesty. They also said that she is an exemplary leader who carries her personal values and beliefs into her work environment, focusing on “people” to achieve business results

“It's a huge honour and a privilege to be recognised among such exceptional women,” said Brighton-Hall. “I'm thrilled that taking a people-focused approach to business has been recognised as a great way to drive success.

“It’s an incredible privilege to be recognised for doing something I feel passionate about everyday. My advice to other women – be yourself, be proud and follow your passion.”

With its headquarters in Milan, Italy, Luxottica is one of the world’s largest eyewear and eye care companies. When Brighton came on board, she rolled out an HR strategy which included simplifying all people processes – a policy which proved very effective.
