Prime Minister Julia Gillard has unveiled an expanded cabinet, with Bill Shorten to replace Chris Evans as Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.
Chris Evans has been demoted from Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations to Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research.
In a statement, Gillard said the changes will provide a “mix of new energy talent and wise heads” in a time of “profound economic change”.
She added, “I believe it's the right mix of experience and new blood. This new mixture will give us new focus and the fire power we need in 2012 to pursue the Government's priorities.”
