Australian HR salary trends revealed

How does your salary compare to the national average for HR and recruitment professionals?

The average annual salary for those in HR and recruiting has increased by 0.9% from FY14/15 to FY15/16, according to the latest data from SEEK.

In financial year 2015/2016, the average salary for fulltime HR and recruiting jobs advertised on the employment website was $82,700. This was slightly higher than the average salary of $82,000 offered the year before.

“Growth in the average advertised HR salaries on SEEK from FY15 to FY16 can be attributed a competitive market, which sees hirers, large or small, vying attract the very best HR professionals to help them manage and execute their organisational change,” Rebecca Supierz, HR manager for Australia & New Zealand at SEEK, told HC.

This increase is good news for HR especially after the average salary dropped by 4.1% from FY13 to FY15.

This trend could continue in the future, Supierz added.

“The role of an HR professional is becoming more specialised and sophisticated. It will be interesting to see if over time we see an increase in salary for those professionals with skills in growing HR areas.”
