Anna Meares retires: Hear her story at the National HR Summit

Australia’s greatest track cyclist announced her retirement on Sunday after a stunning career

Australian cycling champion Anna Meares announced her retirement after 22 impressive years in the sport, which included six medals across four Olympic Games.

Meares has had a dramatic career, making one of sports’ greatest comebacks at the 2008 Beijing Games with a silver medal in the sprint just seven months after she broke her neck in a crash. Her announcement on Sunday came two months after she led the Australian team at this year’s Rio Games, carrying the flag in the opening ceremony and winning a bronze medal in the keirin.

Hear Meares’ story at the 2017 National HR Summit, returning to Luna Park Sydney on 29-30 March. Delivering a keynote presentation titled “The fighting spirit of a champion”, Meares will provide inspirational insight into her journey to success and the lessons she has learned throughout her career.

The National HR Summit marks its fifteenth year in 2017 with two conference programs focusing on the most crucial and complex people management issues today. Recently awarded Australia’s best business event, the National HR Summit will enable HR professionals at all stages of their career to expand their leadership skills in key areas and enhance their ability to lead and deliver effective change.
