Workers rooting for green power

76% of workers are interested in the green power sector. According to a survey by 1111 Job Bank, 95% of respondents said they thought the green power sector would flourish in future and more than three-fourths would like to find a job in a related field.

Respondents cited reasons such as “positive industry prospects” (63.48%), “identifying themselves with environmental protection” (61.24%) and “personal interest” (46.63%).

Among the reasons for their confidence in the industry’s prospects, “global trend” topped the list (74.76%), while other reasons mentioned included “global energy crisis” (44.76%) and “the need for environmental protection” (38.57%).

In contrast, 23% of respondents said they would not join the green power sector, mainly because of “a lack of professional ability.”

“Jobs in the green power sector usually require specialized skills, which lifts the threshold for entering the field,” Henry Ho, public relations director of 1111 Job Bank, said.
