A major shakeup of the CSIRO’s workforce is on the cards with redeployment and redundancies paving the way for a new generation of scientists.

This is a great idea however it needs to be all encompassing. The place to start with this is the Science Council and the Executive Team, many of whom are old fossils with rigid last century thinking. Larry made a big mistake by not cleaning house as soon as he arrived.

Scientists are at the cutting edge of technology by definition and are at the leading edge of skills - they devise new methods routinely. A need to upskill is a dishonest justification. This is about an organisation wanting to sell science to industry and climate science is not fitting that aim.
