Economics experts say that despite rising unemployment figures indicating Australia is heading into a recession, it is a mistake to take the statistics at face value.

What don't these "economic experts" get? The GDP is indicative of the mining/primary industry sector booms and governments are blinded by getting royalties from mining, but for the rest of us there is NOTHING happening in this country except job losses.

Agree Pete, and even the mining industry is beginning to fall on hard times. Working in a consulting firm to the mines we are seeing the need for services dropping to the bare minimum and the job positions advertised in the past are fairy tales, layoffs are happening.
If the demand for our minerals dries up the only thing Aus haven't sold off to foreign investment is Tourism and I cant see the tourism industry holding the country economy up.

Even the companies you have Employment Services are "restructing" just getting rid of staff !!! Massive redundancies in Employment Services but then, the next week they advertise new positions ????

    Shame on them
