The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has said that the rate of casual employment has doubled over the last 25 years, but other industry bodies have disputed the figure.

    I would be very surprised if casual workers in a majority are not interested in full time work, or more aptly, permanent part-time work. Where are the statistics, and do they discriminate on the basis of sole income, student status (eg school working at Maccas or tourist backpackers, primary bread winner, working woman, retiree etc.
