Contrary to popular belief, staff turnover rates have dropped during the past 15 years according to a new report, with more employees content to stay with employers for longer.

Anyone who believes high turnover is a thing of the past are kidding themselves.

Less people left their job voluntarily between 2008-2012 because there were fewer alternative job opportunities and huge numbers of people were being retrenched. Most people who felt their job was relatively secure wouldn't risk moving.

Let's see what happens when economies have recovered!

Another factor, especially in the over 50s, is age discrimination. I would not voluntarily leave a job without another lined up because I have experienced this form of discrimination.
