Grey area between 'work life' and 'social life' puts HR in tricky situation

The lines are constantly being blurred between what constitutes the workplace and what constitutes a ‘social event.’ Should comments made outside the workplace be subject to workplace legal responsibility? And should HR be always ‘on duty’ at social events with work colleagues?

    I dont think so, there is always a duty of care at any function that has been organised by an employer and HR is already accustomed to being on alert around his/her colleagues - it will be second nature for them to be on the look out.
