The Federal Government has announced plans to cap childcare subsidies after a 16-month political stall.

Perhaps if the government cut the subsidies for women who do not work (i.e. on single parent pensions and disability pensions) so that those women can have a "day off" or "days off" from their kids there would be enough in the budget for women who either have to work or choose to work. Current women on pensions only pay up to approximately $10 per week to have their child in day care whereas women who work or who want to work have to weigh up whether it is in fact financially viable for them to work with the high cost of child care.
