A Victoria-based company has been fined almost $76,000 after it underpaid a member of staff by $30,000.

    It's a great outcome that the employee received what they were entitled to. However, as a casual, why/how was he entitled to a payout of annual leave?

    I don't believe the General Retail Industry Award has a conversion clause

    Either a clause in an award wasn't met or perhaps the employee was deemed to have been a permanent employee as the casual work was regular and systematic?

    If you're working the same times/hours week in week out I'd hardly call that casual employment.
