Top law firms share legal advice to navigate the HR team through tough times

With the Australian Bureau of Statistics announcing last week that Australia’s unemployment rates have risen to 5.7%, there are fears that more workers will face the axe in the coming months.

The increased number of redundancies and terminations means today’s Australian HR professionals must steer themselves and their organisations during these uncertain times.

Speaking at the Redundancy and Termination Law for HR Professionals masterclass taking place in May 2009, Karl Blake, partner at Maddocks (speaking in Melbourne) and Tim Frost partner at Allens Arthur Robinson (speaking in Sydney) will deliver strategic legal advice on how to right-size staff levels while maintaining maximum operational efficiency and minimising loss of knowledge.

In their respective sessions, Blake and Frost will deliver strategies to implement successful selection processes; examine the financial costs and obligations of redundancy and how the company’s bottom line may be affected; reveal employee engagement solutions; and determine whether redundancy is the best step forward (with a focus on redeployment).
